Learning how to Breath

"Just breathing in can make you very happy. Allow yourself to be happy while breathing in." – Thich Nhat Hanh

I purchased "The Oxygen Advantage" by Patrick McKeown for my mouth-breathing husband, to learn strategies to help with sleep and, well, snoring, and stress. And of course I'm helping myself as I help him. There are many great books out there today on strategies to improve our health and wellness through breath.

Today I read an email from my friend Susanna Harwood Rubin who was saying “Our Breath is our most intimate connection to the world. Through the breath we learn so much about our relationship to ourselves, to others, and to nature.”

And it made me stop, and read again.

Through the breath...

The more I listen and learn about the breath, the more I truly believe every breath is a new beginning. In these times, which are extremely challenging for many in our community, how can we cultivate calm, stay positive and purposeful, maybe even find some happiness? I believe through learning how to breathe differently will definitely help.

"What are the benefits of Alternate Nostril Breathing?" he asks. Knowing the whys and reading the latest research helps us understand the science, however the most important thing you can do is show up and practice and feel the difference it is making.

Let us come together, learn to breathe better and to move in ways that help us improve our energy levels, concentration and focus, and help us calm the body and mind. I encourage you to experiment with breath exercises and mindfulness to help you redefine the relationship you are having with yourself, and those around you too.

With breath, joy and kindness,
