Gratitude and Hope

If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself.

If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself.

Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.

~ Lao Tzu

As we approach the close of another year, it's natural to take stock, reflect on our journey, and ponder the highs, lows, and everyday moments that define our experiences. In the midst of this innate human introspection, I find myself compelled to share a few thoughts with you.

This year, for me, has been a tempest, filled with personal losses and profound challenges that, at times, felt emotionally overwhelming. The global landscape, marked by bias, disease, poverty, and war, added an extra layer of heaviness. It's okay to admit that 2022 often left me feeling depleted.

Yet, as we stand on the cusp of another year, I recognise that feeling hopeless and feeling hopeful are both deeply human responses. The highs and lows may dominate our memories, but the majority of our time is woven into the fabric of the mundane, the day-to-day. And it is here that the secret of hope resides.

In these seemingly ordinary moments, we hold the power to make a significant difference — in our lives, in the lives of those around us, and in the lives of future generations. It is in these moments that compassion can prevail over criticism, where decisions can align with our values, and where we can be role models for positive change.

For me, nurturing LYFE becomes a daily practice — listening instead of reacting, evolving beyond old habits, and choosing compassion over complaint. As we reflect on what truly matters, I cherish the early morning practices of breath and meditation, the movement infused with intention, and the incredible company of our community.

To you, the heart and soul of Yoga LYFE, who join us in the studio and on virtual highways, thank you. Your stories inspire me, and your presence helps create a space where others find solace. These everyday moments dictate how we show up, and they fill me with hope. I hope to inspire you even just a bit as you review your own 2022 reel.

A heartfelt thank you to Jani, Briony, our diverse team of talented teachers, and our incredible crew of karmi yogis. Your dedication nurtures goodness at the studio and in the community. And thank you, dear community, for showing up.

May the coming days be filled with love and compassion, paving the way for healing ourselves and our planet. Wishing you a rejuvenating week ahead and a bright New Year.

Love & best wishes,

xx Denise
